Yeh Therapy Hai · Therapy Services
South Asian & Hindi/Urdu-speaking therapy in Illinois.
Therapy where you don't have to translate yourself — your language, your family, or your culture. Virtual sessions for adults anywhere in Illinois, in English, Hindi/Urdu, and Spanish.
Therapy that understands where you come from
If you grew up in a South Asian household, you may know the tension well: loving your family deeply while feeling crushed by their expectations. Wanting to honor your parents while building a life that actually feels like yours. Being told — directly or silently — that therapy is "not for people like us."
Many of my clients are navigating anxiety, burnout, people-pleasing, and guilt that trace back to family dynamics, immigration stories, and cultural pressure. Some are the first in their families to ever see a therapist. Others are sorting out identity — what it means to be South Asian and queer, or South Asian and neurodivergent, or simply South Asian and tired of pretending everything is fine.
In our work together, you won't have to explain why privacy matters so much, why "log kya kahenge" (what will people say) carries real weight, or why setting a boundary with a parent can feel like a betrayal. We start from understanding — and build from there.

Sessions in your language
Sessions are available in English, Hindi/Urdu, and Spanish — Y claro que si, hablo español. Many clients move between languages mid-sentence, and that's welcome here. Some things are simply easier to say in the language you grew up with.
All sessions are virtual, so you can meet with me from anywhere in Illinois — Chicago, the suburbs, or a smaller town where finding a South Asian therapist nearby isn't realistic.
Common questions
Do you offer therapy in Hindi or Urdu?
Yes. Sessions are available in English, Hindi/Urdu, and Spanish — or a mix, however you naturally speak. Many clients move between languages in a single session, and that's completely welcome here.
I'm the first in my family to try therapy. Is that common?
Very common. Many South Asian clients are the first in their families to seek therapy, and it can come with guilt, secrecy, or the fear of being misunderstood. We can talk about all of that — including how much (or how little) you want your family to know.
Will you understand my family and cultural background?
I work with many South Asian, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and neurodivergent clients, and my approach is culturally responsive and trauma-informed. You won't have to spend sessions explaining why family expectations, privacy, or community reputation matter — we start from understanding.
Do you take insurance?
Yes. Individual therapy is $150 per session self-pay, or you can use your insurance through Headway. Couples therapy is $200 per session. You can check your insurance coverage before we begin.
Where in Illinois do you see clients?
Anywhere in Illinois. All sessions are virtual, so whether you're in Chicago, Naperville, Schaumburg, Champaign, or a smaller town, we can meet by video.
Ready when you are.
